Batu Caves & Kuala Lampur

Day 69 of 164 Days Around the World Cruise.

Kuala Lumpur, or KL as it is commonly known, is the capital of Malaysia and one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in Southeast Asia. With its diverse mix of cultures and influences, KL is a city that offers something for everyone, from shopping and nightlife to food and history.

One of the most iconic attractions in KL is the Batu Caves, a series of limestone caves and temples located just outside the city. Here's a closer look at what you can expect to experience when visiting Kuala Lumpur and Batu Caves.

Kuala Lumpur

As the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is a bustling metropolis with plenty to see and do. The city is home to numerous landmarks and attractions, including the Petronas Twin Towers, one of the tallest buildings in the world. Visitors can take a trip up to the observation deck for breathtaking views of the city.

For those who love shopping, KL is a paradise. The city boasts several malls, including the famous Bukit Bintang shopping district, which is home to designer boutiques, high-end restaurants, and luxury hotels. The Central Market is another popular shopping destination, where visitors can buy souvenirs and traditional handicrafts.

Food is also a highlight of KL. The city is famous for its street food, which can be found in bustling night markets and hawker centers. Some of the must-try dishes include nasi lemak, a fragrant coconut rice dish, and roti canai, a flaky, buttery Indian flatbread.

Batu Caves

Just outside Kuala Lumpur lies the Batu Caves, a series of limestone caves and temples that attract thousands of visitors each year. The most famous of the caves is the Cathedral Cave, which is home to several Hindu shrines and statues.

To reach the Cathedral Cave, visitors must climb a steep flight of 272 steps. Along the way, you'll be greeted by macaque monkeys, who are known to be quite friendly (but can also be mischievous, so watch your belongings!). At the top of the stairs, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

Aside from the Cathedral Cave, there are several other caves to explore, each with its own unique features. One of the most popular is the Dark Cave, a fascinating underground network of passages filled with unique wildlife and rock formations.

Overall, a visit to Kuala Lumpur and Batu Caves is a must for anyone traveling to Malaysia. With its mix of culture, history, and natural beauty, this vibrant city and its iconic attraction are sure to leave a lasting impression on any traveler.
