Bennelong

What an extraordinary experience we had at the Sydney Opera House's Bennelong Restaurant.

We started the evening at Bennelong when our host provided an almost professional photo shoot on our way to the lounge as we had arrived early. In the lounge we had an amazing view of the harbor and the Sydney bridge. We ordered a couple of drinks and then were treated to quite the show as the bartenders showed true artistry while preparing ours and other quests beverages. The drinks were not only very tasty but they were presented as works of art.

The host asked us if we would mind waiting a bit longer to get a window seat in the resturant and we of course said no problem at all. It was worth the wait! They seated us at the window with an incredible view of the city and bridge and a front row seat to watch the tourists as they admired the incredible Sydney Opera House grounds.

First they brought fresh sour dough which rivaled the best that San Francisco offers.

Then the oysters came. They were the most tender sweet and wonderful oysters we have ever had, and the granita topping was just the perfect accompaniment.

We ordered 2 starters which were a scallop sashimi and an eggplant, bacon, etc dish that was a delight to the taste buds.

The mains were Wagu Beef and Lamb. The dishes arrived and as you will see they were absolutely beautiful. The lamb was the most tender and flavorful cut of lamb we have ever had the pleasure to consume. The Wagu beef which actually looked like a desert was both a visual and taste sensation as well.

Desert came with Shirley having a cheese plate that presented like a photo shoot would be in Food & Wine. Mark had a Choclate Crisp decadent desert that was a perfect ending to a romantic, delicious, visually enticing dining experience in Sydney Australia.

If you are visiting Sydney splurge on a night at Bennelong, you wont be disappointed!
